... Our Greatest Trials

"Our Greatest Blessings Come From Our Greatest Trials"
This quote was found in Connor's scriptures by our 3rd son Brandon... on the day of our youngest son Connor's Funeral.  We were all pretty shocked and comforted by his deep thoughts written in his scriptures and it brought us great comfort to think that "someday" this great trial would one day be a blessing.
After his funeral and even recently I have Googled this statement and have found VERY LITTLE results... and only ONE nearly EXACT quote...  So now I wonder what he was thinking or what prompted him to write this in his scriptures.
And a few weeks ago when I was listening to this podcast on Hi Five Live by Steffani Keetch Dastrup AGAIN this quote came up... and brought all kinds of tears.  So I went to her YouTube channel... you can click on the Blessings link to bring up her sister and her singing the song by Laura Story.

~~~~~~~~~~BLESSINGS,  by Laura Story
We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things
'Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
We cry in out in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt your goodness, we doubt your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe
When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not our home
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can't satisfy
What if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are your mercies in disguise
What I do know is that we have had one of the greatest trials known to humans... the loss of a child.  We have also had some very great blessings and we hope that more are still to come... there are blessings we have not yet received but long for in a righteous way... and realize that since those blessings have not come yet, it might mean there's more time we need to receive them or prepare for them.
What I do know is that my son Connor was wise beyond his years!  I am grateful he wrote down some of his deepest feelings and testimonies and that we have his words to always remember him by.
KNOW that you too can have some GREAT BLESSINGS in your life... but you might have to be willing to face the GREAT TRIALS to find them.
